The religion which was developed in Ancient India around the teachings of Lord Buddha is called Buddhism. Buddha means enlightened one.

Lord Buddha Short Story By Tanu Nashkar

Gautama Buddha was born in 560 BC at Lumbini near the city of Kapilavastu in Nepal. His father’s name is Suddhodana. He was the King of Sakyas. His mother’s name was Maya. She died seven days after her son’s birth. Gautama was brought up by Maya’s sister Mahaprajapati. Suddhodana called his son Siddhartha. When he was born, King Suddhodana held a great feast. Some astrologers came to the feast and predicted to his father Suddhodana that his child would become either a universal monarch (Chakravarti) or would become a great monk, abandoning home. This prediction upset his father. The astrologers told the King that an old man, a diseased man, a dead man, and a monk; these four will make the prince retire from the world. The King thought, “I want my son to be a great emperor and not a great monk. So I will not let him see anything sad or ugly.” Siddhartha lived in a palace and his father provided him all kinds of luxury and diligence to preserve his attachment for pleasure. He did not let him go out anywhere. When he grew up, he was married to a beautiful princess called Yashodhara. They had a son called Rahul. Life was full of happiness.
One day, Siddhartha went outside. After a while, he saw an old man. went on he saw a sick man. Seeing this Siddhartha was sad. Then he saw a crowd of people where some people were crying near a dead body. He became
upset. After a while, he saw a holy man
looking very calm. He came back home but he was very much disturbed to see all these things. He had many questions in his mind. No one could give him any answers to those questions. Siddhartha decided to give up the life of a princess. One night when everyone was asleep, he left his home in search of the truth. He spent many years wandering and thinking. At one point, he decided to sit under a tree until he became enlightened. Finally, at the age of 35, he achieved enlightenment. He was called the Buddha. The tree he sat under is called the Bodhi tree. Buddha spent the rest of his life teaching people. — Many people live their lives according to Buddhist teachings.
